From the moment I saw the trailer in May last year, I knew Beverly Hills Chihuahua was going to be the greatest film of all time. As the guardian of a Chihuahua, I might be a little biased. I had to wait until Thanksgiving time to convince friends and family to go see it with me. While they might not call it a cinematography masterpiece like I do, I think they were all pleasantly surprised.
Don’t let the name fool you–the movie is much more than just spoiled little dogs sitting by a pool.
Alright, so the film starts in Beverly Hills showcasing the lives of the rich and famous dogs, but things quickly take a turn for the worst when the main character, Chloe (voiced by Drew Barrymore), gets lost in Mexico. Papi (a rescue dog in real life, voiced by George Lopez), the gardener’s dog, is madly in love with Chloe and is determined to rescue her. The film is focused on the adventures and characters Chloe encounters along her journey. There’s even a happy message of adoption.
But don’t take my word for it–go buy it or rent it today! You might be pleasantly surprised as well.
