Pamela Anderson, PETA’s favorite pinup, lectures folks in India on sterilizing their strays. After learning about Mumbai’s High Court decision to kill stray dogs, the animal rights activist and former Baywatch star sent a letter to city authorities on humane ways of dealing with stray dogs.
“It is well established that killing dogs is not a permanent solution to controlling their populations,” Anderson says in her letter, adding that mass sterilization is the best way to solve the problem.
There are as many as 70,000 strays in Mumbai alone, many of which are aggressive. According to Samir Guliyani, a medical professional and cyclist, the strays are not just a nuisance, they are dangerous to bike riders.
The court decision has been stayed through the end of January.
