While everyone across the country is getting out to vote today—for president, senate, city council, and more, the folks in Rabbit Hash (a small unincorporated community in northern Kentucky…a 30 minute drive from the house I grew up in), are voting for a mayor who can’t complain if they lose—but I’m sure they will bark, meow or bray. That’s right, come Nov. 5, the new mayor of Rabbit Hash will be a cat, dog or donkey.
The former mayor, black Lab Junior Cochran, passed away in May. Starting August 31 concerned citizens could vote online for the next mayor of Rabbit Hash. Voters paid $1 a vote, which was donated to the Rabbit Hash Historical Society. Unfortunately online voting has ended, but if you happen to live near Rabbit Hash, head on out to Central Barn today between 6am and 6pm, then be sure to check the website to see who the new mayor is!
