Schoolteacher wins fight to keep 150 cats

In Animal News on August 15, 2008 at 4:46 pm

A woman who has 150 cats at her home in Florida has been allowed to keep the animals after complaints from her neighbors and county citations, according Orlando news reports. A judge ruled in favor of the woman because there are no laws limiting the number of cats a person can keep. Interestingly enough, Dr. Phil is involved in this one. He interviewed her for a show on animal hoarding and, according to Local 6, agreed to pay for her lawyer. Kathy Grant, a school teacher in the area, was first cited for having more than four animals on her property two years ago. At that time, her request to have her home declared an animal sanctuary was denied.

What do you think? Does this sound like animal hoarding? If all the animals are healthy and happy, should people leave her alone? What if you were her neighbor?
