A Dog’s Health Important Too

In Uncategorized on July 24, 2008 at 5:28 pm

There’s a growing trend of pet lovers who are progressive when thinking about canine health and happiness, and this outlook that may mirror their thoughts about their own physical and emotional well-being. An article from The Wall Street Journal’s online MarketWatch explores a growing concern about a dog’s overall health. It makes mention to dog food producers who are introducing new products that are meant to be more wholesome and nutritious. An example of this the is Kibbles n’ Bits(R) Wholesome Medley. Dog-lovers are increasingly seeking advice about how to improve their dog’s overall health. The article asks Dr. Jodi Smith, a practicing veterinarian and popular pet expert from JustAnswer.com for some tips for these concerned dog-lovers. Some of her tips include:

-including your dog in your exercise routines such as walks or jogs because it is also important for a dog to exercise and they make great work-out buddies.

-the exercising safety rules that apply to you also apply to your dog: don’t exercise on full-stomach, keep hydrated, don’t go out in severe weather, and remember to stretch. (How you would get a dog to stretch is beyond me.)

-reading the labels on dog food products before you buy them so you know exactly what you’re feeding your dog.

-dogs are great listeners, just be sure to lavish praise and rub their tummies as a thanks for listening.
