Bureau of Land Management Plans to Euthanize Wild Horses

As I was browsing CNN.com for the latest animal-related news, I came across an article that made my heart sink. In June, the U.S. Bureau of Land Management proposed euthanizing some wild horses as a way to deal with the so-called surplus. The Bureau claims that the wild-horses are now overpopulating public lands in the West and the government cannot afford to round-up and care for all of the estimated 33,000 wild horses. How about this: let the wild horses remain wild. I think, and I’m sure Tails readers would agree, that humans must learn to better share the earth with animals. The killing of animals because man would like more room for himself is the reason that so many wonderful species have gone extinct, are endangered species, or are threatened species. Wild Horses are iconic to the American West and should be preserved in homage to their place in spirit of the West.
