Help vets help pets of the homeless

In Uncategorized on June 4, 2008 at 5:26 pm

I remember when this was a big story last year—a homeless man died defending his dog. There are many homeless stray animals, but we often forget about the homeless animals who have a loving guardian but have nowhere to live, nothing to eat and no veterinary care.

Feeding Pets of the Homeless founder and executive director, Genevieve Frederick, just announced that they will give grants up to $1,000 to veterinarians who create a plan to deliver medical care and vaccinations to pets of the homeless in their community.

Interested? Try talking to your vet about the program. You can also receive a grant application and guidelines by emailing info@petsofhomeless.org. Include the veterinarian’s name, hospital/clinic, address and phone number.
