Iowa State vets perform first corneal implant

We’ve recently seen how prosthetics have helped Sally the Suluki and Molly the pony, now veterinary medical progress is giving sight to Dixie.

Iowa State veterinarians performed the first veterinary corneal implant procedure in the US, restoring sight for the seven-year-old Mountain Cur dog. The vet replaced Dixie’s cloudy cornea with a plastic one. She won’t have peripheral vision but her sight will greatly improve.
