“Creating A Nation of Humane Communities, One Community at a Time”

In Uncategorized on May 7, 2008 at 5:33 pm

When dealing in rescue, “one at a time” seems to be an unofficial slogan, whether it be saving lives or making a difference for one animal. The ASPCA is taking the slogan to the community level with its recently launched Mission: Orange campaign in Charleston County, SC. The ASPCA partnered with animal welfare groups as “a collaborative effort to create a ‘humane community’ by curbing the needless euthanasia of adoptable pets,” the ASPCA press release states.

Charleston County received $600,000 for the three-year campaign. Five other communities began campaigns last year: Austin, Texas; Gulfport-Biloxi, Miss.; Philadelphia, Pa.; Spokane, Wash.; and Tampa, Fla. New York also has a program.

The community will undergo planning sessions to determine strategies and tactics to increase adoptions, reduce intake and strategically target other life-saving initiatives.
