Get out your pooper scoopers, because International Pooper Scooper Week is fast approaching, from April 1st through the 7th. The Association of Professional Animal Waste Specialists (aPaws), founded in February 2002, has set aside this week as a time to drive home the need for dog guardians to do away with the brown factor in a responsible way.
Dog waste is nothing to pooh-pooh. America’s nearly 71 million dogs produce more than 4.4 billions pounds of waste per year. Peew! Offenses to the senses aside, many parasites posing serious health risks, especially to children, are transmitted through dog feces. So join the movement and scoop that poop!
